Rustic Charm & Buttery Croissants at Baba Au Rhum

There’s a kind of unhurried magic that Baba Au Rhum brings to Anjuna. It’s the sort of café that doesn’t just serve food - it serves calm, sunshine, and a sense that life can indeed move at a slower pace. I’d heard plenty about this spot before finally making it there for an early Monday brunch, and it didn’t disappoint. The place was already buzzing with people, rustic and green with a touch of old-Goa charm, and the music just tied everything together. Baba Au Rhum feels like one of those cafés where conversations stretch longer than planned and where breakfast somehow turns into lunch without you noticing.

Here's What I Had

Hercules Chicken Burger - Rs 390

Now this was one serious burger. A towering stack of chicken, cheese, bacon, grilled onions, and fried egg between two toasted buns, served with crisp fries and two house dips - it hit all the right notes. Juicy, flavour-packed, and absolutely satisfying, this was easily one of the best burgers I’ve had in Goa. Definitely one for the must-try list.

Leo's Special Croissant - Rs 300

As someone who can never resist a good croissant, spotting an entire section dedicated to them on the menu was pure joy. This one came loaded with fried egg, chicken, cheese, spring onion, and an unexpectedly brilliant chilli plum sauce that tied everything together. Perfectly crisp, airy, and buttery - it reminded me exactly why I love croissants in the first place. I even grabbed a plain one to go, and it was just as divine.

Sea Food Pasta - Rs 450

Visually, this dish was a stunner - generous portions of calamari and prawns, plated with care. Unfortunately, the flavour didn’t quite match up. The seafood itself was fresh and well-cooked, but the overall pasta leaned on the bland side, lacking the punch the rest of the meal had set up.

Final Thoughts

Baba Au Rhum makes for the kind of place where good food and easy mornings come together naturally. Whether you’re here for an indulgent breakfast or a long, lazy brunch, this spot knows how to make you slow down and savour the moment. The burgers are big, the croissants are beautiful, and the vibe is everything you’d want from a Goan morning. It’s no wonder locals and travellers keep returning - because once you’ve had a morning at Baba Au Rhum, you’ll find yourself craving another one soon after.
